The Capital Ring: Falconwood to Grove Park

This is the 2nd section of the 78 miles (125 km) long Capital Ring. Most of the walks of The Capital Ring are through London’s green spaces. If you plan to walk all sections, I recommend this guidebook by Colin Saunders. This second walk of 4.3 miles (6.9 km) is a beautiful walk with alternating landscapes of woodlands, city views, and parks. The route starts at Falconwood station and finishes at Grove Park station. The entire route is well waymarked.

The route starts at Falconwood station, soon entering Eltham Park South and leading to Conduit Meadow. Here you pass a Grade II listed building, a small brick structure that used to contain sluices to control the flow of water to Eltham Palace.

The route passes Eltham Palace and continues over King John’s Walk with wide views over the city. The final section of the walk is a track fenced on both sides with the school grounds of Eltham College behind one fence and paddocks behind the other. At the end of the fields you reach Marvels Lane, which you cross and continue ahead to Chinbrook Road. Turn right to follow the road up to Grove Park station.
