The Capital Ring: Streatham to Wimbledon Park

This is the 5th section of the 78 miles (125 km) long Capital Ring. Most of the walks of The Capital Ring are through London’s green spaces. If you plan to walk all sections, I recommend this guidebook by Colin Saunders. This 5th walk of 5.7 miles (9.2 km) is a pleasant walk through several parks. The route starts at Streatham Common station and finishes at Wimbledon Park station. The entire route is well waymarked.

The route starts at Streatham Common station and follows a residential street parallel to the railway track towards Tooting Bec Common. Another set of streets leads to Wandsworth Common where a tarmac path follows the bank of a large pond.

Beyond Wandsworth Common the route takes you to the long and quite boring Magdalen Road. Alternatively, you can enter Wandsworth Cemetary at the main gate and walk through the cemetary to the very end where a small gate takes you back to Magdalen Road. At the end of this road you will find Wimbledon Park station, where this walk ends.
