Epping Forest Walk

This 24km walk through the 2,400-hectare area of woodlands of Epping Forest is a spectacular walk starting at Epping station and finishing at Manor Park station. Epping Forest is an ancient woodland protected since the 12th century as a royal hunting forest. The walk follows a marvellous route through nothing but forests and fields. The route is not waymarked.

The walk starts at Epping station and soon after leaving Epping you cross the London Orbital Motorway into Epping Forest. The route follows tracks along the length of the forest towards Chingford. About halfway through the walk you cross Whitehall Plain and continue to follow a track parallel to the river The Ching. After crossing Chingford Lane, you enter Highams Park and walk along the bank of the Highams Park Lake to reach Walthamstow Forest.

A combination of parks and green spaces leads you to Leyton Flats with its Hollow Pond. After a busy intersection the route reaches Wanstead Heath, Wanstead Flats, and finally Manor Park station, the end of this route.
