This is the 7th section of the 78 miles (125 km) long Capital Ring. Most of the walks of The Capital Ring are through London’s green spaces. If you plan to walk all sections, I recommend this guidebook by Colin Saunders. This 7th walk of 4.8 miles (7.8 km) is a pleasant walk through lovely residential areas and along the Grand Union Canal towpath. The route starts at Richmond station and finishes at Boston Manor station. The entire route is well waymarked.
The walk starts at Richmond station to follow George street towards the Thames. At the very beginning of this walk there is a lovely restaurant, The Ivy Café, with an excellent breakfast menu that includes vegan options.
The route follows the path along the Thames towards the Richmond Lock and Footbridge, which you use to cross the river. At the other side continue in the same direction along the Thames to the beautifully located Town Warf pub and continue alongside the river using the pub’s veranda.
After a lovely residential street parallel to the river, you enter Syon Park to exit it again at the other side at London Road. Briefly follow this busy road until you reach the Grand Union Canal/River Brent, which you will follow for the remainder of this walk.
Immediately after you passed under the M4, you turn away from the Grand Union Canal/River Brent to follow a path that will take you to Boston Gardens along which Boston Manor station is located, where this walk ends.
