This 29 km (18 miles) walk follows the New River from its start at New Gauge, just outside of Hertford, to Enfield. The New River Path is divided into three sections and this first section covers the part of the route that goes through Hertfordshire. The walk starts at Hertford North station, but can also be started at Hertford East station, and finishes at Enfield Chase station (or alternatively you can walk to Enfield Town station on the other side of Enfield). If you still have energy, you can also continue with section 2 of the New River Path. The entire route is well way marked with frequently placed information boards along the path.
