The Kungsleden (King’s Trail) is a magnificent long-distance trail located within the arctic circle of northern Sweden. The total lenght of the route is 460km, but this post only describes the first section of the trail, from Abisko to Nikkaluokta (approximately 100km), which took eight days to complete. I walked this route in July 2022 with a friend and we wildcamped every night on the trail. My friend and I used Interrail to get to Abisko from The Netherlands, which included the night train between Stockholm and Abisko, which was a lovely adventure in itself. We arrived in Abisko in the morning and used the fjällstation to get ourselves sorted before making our way to the start of the trail.
