This is the 9th section of the 78 miles (125 km) long Capital Ring. Most of the walks of The Capital Ring are through London’s green spaces. If you plan to walk all sections, I recommend this guidebook by Colin Saunders. This 9th walk of 5.6 miles (9 km) is a hilly section that starts along the Grand Union Canal and goes over Horsenden Hill and through Harrow-on-the-Hill. The route starts at Greenford station and finishes at South Kenton station. The entire route is well waymarked.
The walk starts at Greenford Station and the route almost immediately leads into Paradise Fields, a nature reserve, and to the Grand Union Canal. You do not cross the canal, but stay on this side and turn right to follow the towpath to pass under a bridge after which the trail immediately turns away from the canal and uses the bridge to cross. A trail takes you up to Horsenden Hill with excellent views over London. After descending on the other side the walk geos through residential area to reach Sudbury Hill and continues to Harrow-on-the-Hill. Cross the school’s playing fields back down to reach Watford Road. A path through woods with a golf club on the right and Northwick Park Hospital buildings on the left you reach a large field which you follow along two edges to reach South Kenton Station, where this walk ends.
