This is the 12th section of the 78 miles (125 km) long Capital Ring. Most of the walks of The Capital Ring are through London’s green spaces. If you plan to walk all sections, I recommend this guidebook by Colin Saunders. This 12th walk of 5.6 miles (9 km) encounters the parkland walk, Finsbury Park, the New River Path, Woodberry Wetlands, Clissold Park, and finally Abney Park. The route starts at Highgate station and finishes at Stoke Newington station. The entire route is well waymarked.
The walk starts at Highgate station and the first section follows the lovely parkland walk to Finsbury Park. Here you encounter the New River Path, which you follow to Clissold Park, passing the incredible Woodberry Wetlands. Just before reaching Stoke Newington station, you cross Abney Park, a true hidden gem.
